You can describe pronunciations in plain language using a simple CSV file. From product names to acronyms, your AI agents can now speak with the same confidence and clarity as your best human representative.

How Pronunciations work

Syllable makes it easy to fine-tune speech directly in the Console.

  • Go to Voices → Pronunciations in the Syllable Console.

  • Download the CSV template and fill in three simple columns: text, replacement, and language.

  • Pronunciations uses a replacement word to explain how to pronounce a difficult spelling (for example, colonel = kernel).

  • Upload your updated file to apply custom pronunciations across your organization.

  • Test your updates on the same page, across multiple voice providers. Select a TTS provider, voice, and language, enter your word or phrase, listen, and adjust until it sounds natural.

Each pronunciation rule takes effect immediately, so you can hear results in your next Voice Preview or call test.

Best practices

  • Match the text field exactly to how the word appears in your scripts or responses.

  • Use phonetic spellings or simple re-spellings in the replacement column.

  • Confirm that the language matches the voice model you are using.

  • Focus on high-value words such as company names, product terms, or commonly used industry phrases.
